Ceilidh Minogue offer the Scottish dance music connoisseur a wider selection of flavours than usual to tempt the taste buds. On this their introductory menu, the Minogues present the worthy haggis, neeps and tatties fayre of Burns, Gow and pipe melodies, complemented by less familiar Scottish and Irish traditional dishes, all served up in a fresh style alongside some original recipes. The ingredients? Master tunesters Gregor Lowrey and Gavin Marwick provide the zing on accordion and fiddle, Bob Turner’s piano and the guitar of Duncan Findlay cater for the most refined tastes in accompaniment, and Alastair Morrow’s kit drumming is the uniquely meaty stock behind the Ceilidh Minogue sound. Here is the latest recording and it is an album made with Stevie Gillies who has been playing tunes with me since the very early years of Rusty Nail back in the eighties. It was great to be involved in this project with Stevie who was very much the driving force behind this album coming together. Through the years Stevie and I have been involved in so many projects together playing either live gigs or recording parts for other peoples albums. He’s been a great source of musical inspiration to me for many years, always up for new ideas and mad notions. The tunes and songs recorded and compiled on this CD have been selected from almost two decades of mine and Stevie’s history. This CD features a collaboration of musicians performing a variety of music and song with each track representing a different era in our musical career. These recordings range from early 1988 up to the present 2004. The material was selected from a mountain of recordings collected over the years. This covers as much of the story as is possible for one CD. This is a computer enhanced CD which includes a CD Rom video of a recording made with the Thomas Tallis Caribbean Steel Band with footage in the Studio and in The Middle East.
